A DOBBIES garden centre in Somerset is hosting a free gardening club for kids.
The Shepton Mallet Dobbies store is hosting a free-to-attend monthly gardening workshop called ‘Little Seedlings Club’ on Sunday, November 2, for children across the country to learn how they can attract winter birds into their garden.

During November’s Little Seedlings Club workshop, children will learn about the different types of winter birds, how birds survive during winter, what kinds of food give them the most energy, and why certain foods should be avoided.
They will also explore different types of bird feeders and learn easy ways to attract more birds to their gardens this winter.
Children will have the chance to discover which foods are safe for birds to eat and which are unsafe. This game will be followed by a hands-on activity at the Shepton Mallet store, where children will make their own fatball bird feeder to take home and add to their garden to encourage wildlife to flourish.
Dobbies’ Little Seedlings Club workshops are designed to be a fun and engaging space for kids to learn about gardens and nature, with interactive activities and games, and the chance to ask lots of questions.
The club takes place monthly at the Shepton Mallet store and covers a range of topics and activities.
Dobbies’ Events programme manager, Ayesha Nickson, said: “Our Little Seedlings Club at our Shepton Mallet store this November is ideal for inspiring nature lovers from a young age.
“It is recommended to start feeding birds in late autumn when the temperatures start to drop.
“This workshop is perfectly timed for kids to discover more about birds and ways to attract them during the winter months. We are looking forward to welcoming the Little Seedlings and to see their bird feeder creations.”
