So I bought new fself watering planters and I tried repotting them and I noticed one of them smelt bad and had soil falling over unlike other two I think it’s root rot. Sorry this is my first time planting anything ☹️

If the crown is turning a brown or gray color and the discoloration is starting to spread up the stems toward the leaves, yeah, that’s probably what it is. A lot of people say AVs are easy to grow and technically that is true IF you give them exactly what they want, but they can be extremely temperamental if you don’t. If any of the leaves are still firm, you can propagate those and ditch the rest of the plant. We have all been there!

If you take the roots off, and look at the main stem, it will have a blackish/gray center. That’s rot. If not, could just be bad soil. If it’s rot, you’ll want to trim down the stem until there is no more rot. If the whole thing is rotten, propagate the leaves. I’d certainly repot it if it smells off, at least.

It is root rot but not too far gone. I’d say trim off any bad roots, and rinse off. In a self watering pot you need to let them dry out between waterings still. So just replant him with some fresh soil so there’s no leftover bacteria and make sure you see the soil on top is dry (not bone dry but no longer moist) before filling the water tray again. I hope that made sense and was helpful haha. Good luck with your violet!
