I believe you’re correct. Possibly *P. tricuspidata* also?

Stock photo sites are FILLED with misidentified plant and animal photos with no mechanism for reporting incorrect IDs. It’s sadly easy for someone who doesn’t know plants to search “frost on blueberries” and pick the first one that comes up for their article.
ETA: [found the photo on Getty](https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/photo/frozen-blue-berries-and-spider-webs-royalty-free-image/1448372053), it was taken in England and described as “frozen winter blue berries” so it wasn’t even a misidentified photo, just someone at the Spruce who either didn’t read or didn’t give a shit. The Spruce is not a reliable source in general, tbh. I’m not surprised to see this sort of thing from them.

They look like elderberries to me.

Blue. Berries. Berries that are blue. With a space in the middle. Not misleading at all!

Step One: Make sure you actually have blueberry bushes and are not mistaking the poisonous berries of a vine for the delicious ones originating from a blueberry shrub…

Holy hell batman, do I want their care advice if they don’t know what a blueberry looks like?

They are blue berries but definitely not blueberries…
Remarkable_Peach_374

Idk what they really are but these are not blueberries

Oooooooh…. oh no… yeeeeeeeah, those are creeper berries… aka: bad time berries that even a small taste of the juice will make you wish you were dying if not dead… least that’s what happened to me one time.

The Spruce has gone so far down in quality. Not sure what happened.

Elderberry?

Possibly Woodbine. Looks like virginia creeper.

They may be blue berries, but not blueberries.

Definitely not anything in the same family, let alone genus.
If you really want to properly care for blueberries, you’re also too late for most of what some fruity AI would recommend and too early for the rest of what it is going to recommend. Basically, don’t trust this stuff.

Mmmm… oxalic acid… *cough* *sputter*
But they’re fine for birds, and the birds don’t care if some stupid human article says they’re blueberries — that’s just extra food for the crows.
