I know this is a longshot but I'd like to try. This is a rose from my Father's funeral that I want to try to root. Do I cut the bloom right above the upper node? Also I've seen on videos that they put the hormone just on the bottom is this correct? I always dipped on nodes on other plants so wasn't sure. Should I re cut the bottom? I know it might be a hybrid and never bloom but I hate the thought of it getting tossed without trying. It's been in water since Wednesday. Any help or tips at all is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Seems like you need 2 nodes to get a good rose prop.
I would cut just below the rose and preserve it. Then I’d cut the stem to have 2 nodes in as many pieces as I could. I’d let the ends dry out an hour or so and then use rooting powder. I’ve seen someone make a paste with the powder and coat the whole thing before putting it in a prop box.
Now, if the stem that was in the water is mushy it may be a lost cause and rotted but if it’s not mushy it should still work.
I prop in my fish tanks bc the water is aerated by the bubbler/filter and naturally fertilized by the fish, I can’t remeber to aerate or change or fert jar props lol

Thank you so much for the advice and the hugs! There are 4 nodes total. The only soft spot is under the bloom itself, I guess being heavy and a long car ride didn’t help. So you think 2 nodes buried might be good?
