Welcome to Mountain Garden Rescue 🌿

I’m James — and I clean up seriously overgrown gardens for free to help people who are struggling.

Whether it’s due to age, disability, mental health, financial hardship, or just feeling completely overwhelmed, I believe everyone deserves a tidy outdoor space to relax in.

On this channel, you’ll find:
🌱 Time-lapse garden transformations
🌳 Real stories from people in need
🧤 Satisfying clean-ups from start to finish
💚 Honest conversations about life, struggle, and community

This project is all about helping good people who feel stuck — and bringing neglected spaces back to life.

🌱 Help Me Rescue More Gardens 🌸

I’ve launched channel memberships as a way for those who want to support my work to get involved. Right now, I’m limited with tools and transport, which means I can only take on smaller tidy-ups. With your support, I’ll be able to upgrade, tackle bigger transformations, and give even more families back the gardens they deserve.

Let’s tidy up the world — one garden at a time. 🌼

hi I’m James and welcome to Mountain Garden Rescue on this channel I take on overgrown neglected gardens completely free of charge for families who really need a hand it’s just me out here with my tools filming the process so you can see these transformations unfold your support helps me keep doing this for more people who deserve it this week I was contacted by Amy and Olivia Amy lives with chronic migraines and her wife Olivia is her full time carer whilst also working full time on top of that they’ve been supporting family members through illness a bereavement and caring responsibilities all while trying to juggle their own health to make things harder their dog recently had knee surgery and really needs outdoor space for her physio recovery they told me that they dreamed of turning this jungle into a safe usable garden but they just didn’t know where to start and that’s where I came in now this was meant to be a two day job but it ended up taking me three part of that is just life I’m also a dad and with school runs twice a day I can’t always stay on site from morning till evening until my partner can get a car it’s a constant juggle but little by little we got there over three days I tackled the brambles cleared the overgrowth uncovered some amazing pavers and opened up the garden so Amy Olivia and their Romanian rescue dog Joanne can finally enjoy the space again it’s not a final show garden it’s a fresh clean canvas for them to build on and hopefully a bit of relief after everything they’ve been through if you’d like to support what I’m doing please follow subscribe or share the channel every bit of support helps me keep this work free for families who need it most thanks for watching and let’s get into the transformation oh hello hello hi ah I’m James hi yes and you are I’m Olivia OK nice to meet you Olivia so yeah just come sort out your garden for you you’re welcome oh yeah what are you what are these I don’t really Amy just did everything I don’t really know OK is she here is she or she’s asleep OK alright she has chronic migraines so right I see yeah yeah she did mention yeah yeah um yes so I just basically here to you know tidy up as best I can you know um clear everything um what do you you know what are you hoping to achieve really here um that is a really good question so obviously the brambles are the main issue yep is the whole space here yours is it no so only this half OK right um although my neighbour did say like if you wanted to get rid of the Rick weeds and stuff around her shed she’s more than happy for you to do that yeah I’m sure she would be yeah no problem I mean I’m not gonna just leave that messy I’ll just tidy the whole thing amazing yeah yeah like she’s like a single mum so you know she’s got her plate full as it is I’m right OK yeah no worries I’m sorry let’s have a good look so there’s a sage a lavender under the brambles and a Rosemary there yeah so you wanna keep the as many of the herbs as possible then so that sage you don’t wanna get cut down there’s some strawberries somewhere that are self set yeah OK not all that worried about those yeah um the aqueducts will come back anyway this lot of the right in the corner here you you sort of want to keep some of that or we’re not really that bothered either way to be honest OK in terms of sorry when they did that yeah they said all that tree is dead and I thought no it’s not it blooms every year it’s like orange blossom it’s right up there yeah and then this year it didn’t bloom okay I can take it down if you want me to take it down I’m I’m more bothered by the Jasmine because like sound cause I’m allergic to it yeah yeah I’m slightly worried that garage roof is gonna fall off if you take the Jasmine out okay it seems to be holding that garage together yeah I don’t know whose garage it is alright okay that’s sagged so all garages right over there so my best right it’s not hard but it’s French stuff that for me OK so I’ll be obviously careful with that is there any sort of rubbish and stuff here that you wanna get rid of like maybe sort of that ha ha is obviously gone yeah the bay the table and the two chairs that match the two armchairs yeah we need to treat those OK yep but everything else that’s in here can go pots and stuff you wanted to keep the pots or if it’s broken no OK yep if it’s OK it’s OK what about um I presume they’re not gonna be worried if this all goes no they’ll be fine with that yeah you know obviously that I’m gonna have to stream down so whatever it is up in there might not survive um there’s a lavender in there but I think it will come back anyway okay and if it doesn’t it doesn’t yeah the soil is useless it’s just sand right yeah it’s a lot of stuff growing in it a lot of Ivy there I’ll try and pull out as much as I can so yeah we’ll keep the table and the two armchairs and the yeah and then anything else is fair game okay so is there is so I notice there’s a patio there is there supposed to be yes there’s bricks under this bit as well right OK so under all of this dirt there’s there’s brick there as well is there not I don’t know it’s not on the sister okay alright I see it here yeah OK doke yeah so gardens are sort of um left to the last thing you know they’re they’re the least important but they they you know they are quite important because you know it’s a it’s nice to have an outside space to go into it’s great for your mental health you know spiritually they’re very important yeah the actual water bottle ha ha ha it gets too much yeah um but you know I’ll get it all sort of down and tidied for you and ah yes yeah they set runners and they did actually fruit I didn’t it’s actually in a no is it in a pot there or they’re in a tray OK yeah they’re in a tray I’ll try and put that to the side for you and so I mean I get the guy who comes and collects stuff yeah it’s free hey if there’s anything good there he’ll obviously um he sort of takes it and and makes use of it you know or sells it on or you know so nothing goes to to waste if it’s any good hello I’m Sam I’m from up here hello alright got a bit of a nice to meet you I’m James thank you alright ha ha ha you can hear mama darling it’s alright hi baby hello yeah it’s OK it’s friend yeah are you gonna let James say hi hello good girl no you alright darling you’re safe you’re safe OK I’ll get my stuff and get on with it amazing alright cool Bose never used 51bce0c785ca2f68081bfa7d91973934 user

  1. Hi James and his viewers! This is Amy, one of the owners of this garden. What can I say, James's kindness and hard work in this garden rescue have made such an impact to our lives. We are able to use our garden! We've had lunch at our little table and chairs a few times and our dog is loving exploring all the new corners she's never seen before.

To address a few questions or comments I've seen here:
    1) Yes, we absolutely have plans to make the garden our own! We're trying to stay realistic and low maintainence while we find our feet but would love a little space for cut flowers one day.

    2) We are planning to put some form of fencing back in, we're just in the process of working out what style will work best for us.

    3) I've seen a bit of confusion, understandably, over where our garden starts and ends. We are an upstairs flat and the garden outside is split between us and our downstairs neighbour. If we take the washing line as a rough boundary, the side that was very overgrown is ours. James was kind enough to do some extra work on our neighbour's garden too, to neaten up their patio and dispose of some rubbish by their shed. Please no more comments about how he "forgot" the bush behind the shed, that area was already beyond his remit and our neighbours were so grateful for what he was able to do.

    4) We have had a very nice gnocchi dish made with the sage that was saved amongst all the chaos! Thank you for your diligence, James! 😁

All in all, I can't sing your praises highly enough. You worked so hard with such care and we are grateful beyond words for what you've done for us. And to all the lovely viewers who make it possible for James to offer this service free, thank you to you as well. You've all collectively allowed us this fresh start that we so badly needed ❤

  2. You are very thorough at your clearance is it love when someone does his job properly if you've just started doing this for a living then I,can see you will be successful WELL DONE BRILLIANT JOB.😊

  3. Fabulous job on a nasty plot full of rubbish and lost to the world. You went above and beyond to clear it and expose the lovely brick paths. Great work my man!

  4. This was 2 FULL yards of work!! 😮 You work like a machine! I dont know how you do this, James ❤❤

  5. That was a super duper job from night and day.You did a wonderful transformation that was the best of the best and I know it took a good while to get it done, but it really has come alive and it looks like an actual backyard.
    With a lot of class

  6. What an amazing job! It looks fabulous. I am certain their dog will be happy in this garden now. Well done!

  7. James, get a longer shovel, buy one of those ergonomic handles to put on it to save your back! There’s a lot of stuff in this garden and I hate watching you bend over like you are doing. Beautiful work! Unbelievable how beautiful it turned out

  8. Wow what a lovely transformation. Such a nice manageable back garden it will be, now that you've reset it again. The tenents must be over joyed with such a lovely outcome.
    Superb job James!

  10. Perfektní práce 👍👍Kdyby jste měl cestu do České republiky, vezměte sebou nářadí, rád si Vás objednám na vyčištění letní zahrady a bazénu. 😊😊

  11. Совсем недавно начала смотреть эти видео, это большой труд. И меня удивляет, почему хозяева этих участков так запускают свои дворы. И садовники работают бесплатно.

  12. That came up really well, particularly the brick paver section. Good work on resurrecting this garden 👏👍

  13. Well done. Especially loved the way the people you helped sang your praises and really appreciated your very hard work. I’m sure they will maintain and improve their surroundings from now on. You give people a fresh start 😊

  14. Amazing transformation , Well done James you have made the owners so very happy and they can enjoy the garden now ❤️👏👏👏🌟👍

  15. Woah! Great work James. Looks like someone had an apprenticeship in block paving and wanted to try it out. 😊

  16. Great job!!! Hard to believe that there was a big, nice brick patio in that backyard!!!
Not only you work on their garden but also helped the downstairs neighbor and it looks amazing.

  20. You might want to invest into another style of shovel for scraping dirt from pavement. The spade will sooner or later break your back.
