Well we finally cut one open. Even though it fell off the vine it turned out fine. My brother volunteers with Food Not Bombs in Baltimore so he took it with him to serve. It's in the oven now so haven't gotten a confirmation on how it tastes.

    The flavor was mild pumpkinish, not as sweet as a butternut squash but soaked up the seasonings when roasted. The yield was amazing, 30 servings from 1 fruit which would normally take 4 or more regular butternut squash.
