On August 13, 2025, we celebrated the reopening of the Charles Wood Japanese Garden, which has now become the newest section of the Three Mile Creek Greenway Trail. This trail stretches for three-quarters of a mile from the entrance to the garden. Once the Greenway Trail is fully completed, the Japanese Garden will be seamlessly connected to an 18-mile trail, providing Mobilians and tourists with a safe and convenient option for biking or walking our beautiful city.

In addition to the new trail segment, we’ve also made other improvements to the garden, including ADA accessibility upgrades and a completely rebuilt and restriped parking lot. In the coming weeks, we’ll be adding security lighting, cameras, and finishing out some other punch list items, but as of this morning, the trail is open and it’s beautiful.

So, look at what we have today. A renewal of this entire area. And it’s so exciting that we have this for the people who live here and who have been wanting something like this for for years. Whether you’re a mobileian or whether you’re a visitor, you’ll be very impressed with what we’ve done uh to connect our community. Very
