    Taxodium.. spelling not correct I’m sure. Bauld cypress. Deciduous conifer. Knees are what you are seeing. Nice size. Mature specimen.

    Cypress knees and no one actually knows what they’re for.

    Bald cypress, Taxodium distichum. Native to the southern US. I didn’t know it was grown ornamentally in other countries. Cool!

    Bald cypress grows in wet places like swamps and on river banks. There’s a hypothesis that it grows “cypress knees” to raise its root out of the water-logged soil and get oxygen. But we dont actually know.
