Only dig up what you need in the moment, and leave the rest for when you need them. Cut back all the top growth, leaving stalks for position markers.

When the foliage dies that’s when you harvest them, they’re ready to harvest
Belle_TainSummer
Looks like they are ready to start lifting.
Lift them as you need them. They’ll be most tender and flavoursome right now, but most varieties should keep through anything short of massive flooding or really deep hard frosts of the sort we just don’t get no more, for a couple of months underground.

I didn’t realise they would be ready so soon, I feel like an idiot haha. Started digging and I’ve got some pretty decent ones so far. Sorry for wasting everyone’s time, thought they’d died of disease or something.

It is tattie picking week

For storage get some of those blue plastic crates your local fruit and veg shop will be throwing out each day.
Line one with newspaper and then add a layer of newspaper to that. Add another layer of potatoes. Repeat this till the crate is full then add a second crate on top and repeat the process in that.
Don’t wash the potatoes.
Don’t pack them tight. Of one goes off the damp of that rotting spud will cause rotting on potatoes touching it directly so gaps are key.
Air is fine so they don’t need to be wrapped tight.
A cool dark shed or garage is perfect to store the crates in.

They will keep until Christmas if you have somewhere dark cool and dry to store them

Before you attempt to harvest, I recommend that you carefully remove and destroy the tomato plants next to them as they appear to be infected with blight. Hopefully this has not got into the potatoes but I recommend that you research the signs and inspect the crop carefully before storing

That’s what’s supposed to happen :). They’re ready.
chaosandturmoil
they are not ready just yet. you want approximately 120 days between planting and harvest.

Nice job!
Dude was waiting for potatoes like apples on a tree.

I feel like you’ve had a little win today, thought you had a failed crop and ended the day with a bag of spuds! Enjoy them
