I bought these squash out of the Halloween novelty squash section which is in the food isles. Anyone know if they're good eating and if so, are they likely to be F1 or heirloom? Thinking ahead if they're particularly tasty. Banana for scale.

Those are just acorn squash. They’re delicious.
I doubt the banana is heirloom /s
The lower, darker squash is an acorn squash should be just fine. The top one, maybe a variation of a delicata?
They are likely not going to grow true to seed, since farmers grow multiple types of C. pepo to have multiple income streams, but they are both normally eaten this time of year.

One is a carnival squash and the other is an acorn squash. Both delicious.
As long as they’re not bitter they’ll be good to eat. If bitter they could be toxic — not intensely toxic so you can lick a cut piece to test it, but if they’re bitter don’t eat a meal of them.
