I’ve already lost one monstera to thrips this year and am feeling particularly murderous about it.

I’d been treating fortnightly with approximately twelve thousand litres of pyrethrum (no Captains Jack’s available in Australia) but have slowed now to once a month. I see zero thrips damage on the three newest leaves, so am hopeful this is the end. Has anyone had any experience with successfully eradication, are they likely to surprise me after being dormant for this long?

Leaf pic 1 = first new leaf after moving house two months ago, very stressed and curly but no thrips damage.

Leaf pic 2 = newest leaf, less stressed and no thrips.

Systemic insecticides are great for indoor plants as they won’t harm pollinators.

i successfully eradicated thrips on a couple of my plants including my monstera thai con. i use bonide houseplant systemic insect control granules and it’s the best preventative and corrective insecticide i’ve used, highly recommend.
