The Military Wives Choir, Inverness added their distinctive tuneful voices to the special Town House event.
The Military Wives Choir Inverness helped launch the 2025 poppy appeal in Inverness Town House.
Veterans and volunteers joined the Provost of Inverness, Councillor Glynis Campbell Sinclair, Legion Scotland and Poppyscotland for the occasion.
Cllr Campbell Sinclair led tributes to the servicemen and women who gave their lives in defence of our country at the ceremony at the city’s war memorial in Cavell Gardens.
The annual Scottish Poppy Appeal in the city aims to raise tens of thousands of pounds in the days leading up to Remembrance Sunday, on November 9.
In coming weeks, the Garden of Remembrance will be filled with hundreds of poppy crosses and other remembrance symbols, each carrying a personal dedication from Poppyscotland supporters across the north of Scotland.
Guests at the Poppyscotland-hosted reception at the Town House enjoyed music from the Military Wives Choir and heard speeches from the Provost, Poppyscotland President Rear Admiral (Rtd) Mark Beverstock, and father-and-daughter duo Andy and Chloe McIntosh, ambassadors and beneficiaries of Poppyscotland.
Speaking at the reception, Rear Admiral (Rtd) Mark Beverstock, President of Poppyscotland and The Royal British Legion Scotland, thanked the Provost and said: “It is an honour to be here at the beautiful Inverness Town House this year again for this important event.
“Following this event, the Garden of Remembrance in Inverness will then open and I encourage people to please pop along and place their remembrance symbols or poppy crosses with your own personal message of dedication within the garden during Remembrance tide.
“Thank you all for your support for Poppyscotland. We appreciate it and never take it for granted.”
The Scottish Poppy Appeal is Scotland’s largest fundraising campaign, with more than two million poppies being distributed across the country. All funds raised support Poppyscotland’s work providing life-changing support and advice to veterans, serving personnel, and their families.
