I recently found the back plot of land behind the stable — and the roof there is in terrible shape. It’s one of those real, raw moments in restoration. Still, this 250-year-old home holds so much magic. I’m moving closer to my Martha Stewart–era, fully unlocked era, one slow, intentional step at a time — tending to the land, dreaming big, and bringing this French farmhouse back to life.

[Music] Hi, I’m Christina. I’m an American born and raised in Los Angeles and I’ve been living in France for 9 years. About four years ago, I bought a house in the French countryside and May 2024, what started as a simple kitchen remodel turned into a full house renovation. I’ve torn down walls, changed layouts, exposed stone, and now I’m bringing my vision to life while taking you along for the journey. This is life in the French countryside and what it’s truly like being an expat living here. So, this is the project that we’re doing today. Some winter garden prep. Hold on, let me set these down. I’m like out of breath. But this is the second year where I said I was going to prep the out plot of land that I showed you guys in the previous videos. If you haven’t checked those, I’ll be sure to link those down below. And that’s what we’re doing today. I bought these online, so hopefully it does the job. I’ve never done anything like this before. [Music] You can already see this. This is like it grows all here, all here, all over there. And then this is the pathway that actually leads behind the stable like behind my property. And you can see how look at what the tree is doing to my gutter. And it’s just like so bad. It’s literally so bad. It gives me so much anxiety. But like what can I do? Like literally plants are growing from it. Can you see that? don’t have the resources. I can’t do this all by myself. I don’t have the financial means to be able to take care of this myself right now. And it’s just kind of a lot. Like, look how bad this is. It’s just I guys, this got so worse. I haven’t been back here in like a few months and it’s gotten so bad. And my neighbors live right there. Like look at that plant. Oh my gosh, you guys. This is like Okay, see there’s a hole there and then all of this stuff. Do you see that plant? Normally there’s like a pathway that goes here and it goes all the way back there. So much for me to manage by myself. Oh my gosh. I actually might ask the city too if they would contribute to cutting down a lot of these trees. Obviously, not this part because that’s not it’s like that’s not their issue. But there is a large chunk that would help the city because there are electrical wires on the property. It’s like all up here. And then my neighbor had stopped the city from trimming these. And it’s like, “Please stop.” Like, and this is why cuz there’s like electrical wire all here. Love to have the whole entire driveway to be lined with solar powered spots on the floor as well as the wall to be back lit with lavender. And then I imagine in this space to have garden beds, it’s just gonna be so charming. And then you can access it by the door right over there. All right, let’s get it. Actually, I don’t feel like I’m going to have nearly enough, but we’ll see. Oh, wow. It’s so much longer than it is wider. Okay, maybe I have enough. I don’t know. I thought I would be able to roll it out. I think I’m going to have to cut this cuz I think it’s just one giant long roll, which not bad. Hi So, I could just lay this here cuz I don’t know if I want to necessarily kill the grass. I really just want to protect this portion, you know. I was able to bring it all. Can you guys see that? And I’m going to need to get stuff so I can fix it to this fence cuz there’s a lot of wind and there’s a lot of rain and I don’t want these things to be poking out. I feel so happy. Let me get the scissors though. Ah, see what I’m talking about, guys? So much wind. I wonder if I have like yarn or something, you know? Like, it doesn’t have to be that legit. I don’t know. I’ll see. But for now, I think I’m going to use that patio stuff to hold this down. But I will use a rock on either side because it’s heavy. Oh Okay. Honestly, does not look that pretty, but it’ll do for now. Now, we’re going to do another strip. It looks like I did nothing. Still so much to do. I only have one left. Hopefully I’m able to cover this like that whole section. Kind of put it along here. Oh, there’s another little nest here. So cute. Feel like it’s supposed to be this way actually. So, I’ll stop the tarp here because if not, we’re not going to have enough to do that section. And I feel like that is a super priority. Where did I put the scissors? Okay. Hopefully it won’t be that bad. You know, I asked Chachi BT to calculate that. Clearly, I underestimated. We’ll do straight. Man, I’m so sad. I’m going to have to make another order. I’m going to pay for shipping and everything. But I will say it was super quick. I will order for them again. Ah. Okay, wait. Oh, no. I really don’t have enough, guys. I think it covered almost half. almost half. But I got I think most of what I wanted to. I wish I was able to cover more all the way here, but I’ll look about placing another [Music]
