This garden is in 8a. We tried growing Butternut and Acorn Squash, but they look dead or dying. In the second pic you can see an acorn squash was trying to grow but turned yellow and fell off.
The third pic is to show that we’ve got some Brussel sprouts, kale, and collards that are doing well, but squash is really struggling. What could be going on here?

Too late in the year for squash. It’s getting too cold.
I’m also 8a/8b. It’s cold. These things like hot days.
I planted squash in August (zone 6a) and it’s struggling now. I was hoping it would have teeny tiny fruits by the time the cold crept in (last week). Oh well. At least the yellow flowers aee pretty.
looks like disease looking at the leaves. Is this in a shaded area? most squash prefer full sun with lots of airflow to prevent powdery mildew. If you plant the same type (cucurbits) of plants in the same place soil born diseases can accumulate there thats why they say to plant different things each year like crop rotation.
The squash, whatever happened there
