Our peace Lilly ( Gretchen )here at the office looks like death eating a cracker. We don’t know how to help her. Gretchen is around two years old, and we repotted her two weeks ago. At first she seemed like she was perking up, but then took a turn for the worse about last Thursday. We put her outside yesterday in direct sunlight for about three hours and apparently that was a horrible decision because she looks so much worse. We water her about twice a week or whenever the soil dries up a bit. Pot has drainage, and water saucer to catch under. What can we do to help her?

They don’t like direct sunlight. They do like water. She’s most likely in shock at the moment so tread lightly. Keep well out of direct sunlight and make sure the soil is hydrated throughout but not waterlogged. You will probably get some dead leafs but they can be clipped off. These are hardy plants with a flair for the dramatic! I think she can survive this.

just noting, do not move indoor plants outside in direct sunlight. you have to acclimate them over a period of time to transition to outdoors, or else they become sunburnt.

Maybe Gretchen went into shock, then put into direct sunlight that she’s not accustomed to put her in worse condition.
She will probably end up with loss of leaves and look dead but then start all new growth.
Give Gretchen time and still love her. Stay positive for the time you see her perky new life start all over again. ( it will just take time & patience)
Hugs sent your way for your sincere caring for her..

    Peace lilies are dramatic:/

She probably needs time to adjust to her new pot and soil situation. She does not like direct sunlight, so she’s probably a little pissed off.

Give her water regularly, but not too much as she’s susceptible to root rot. Peace lilies do tend to droop when thirsty, did you give her a good soak after her transplant?

(Did I mention they are dramatic?)

Is anyone pouring their coffee or other liquids onto Gretchen?

She a drama queen and is just telling you she’s thirsty

put 3 rocks under the pot in between the saucer to elevate, its too wet, someone is drowning it

Set it in a large pan of water and keep the bowl full of water until it stops drinking it up.
Should all pop back up. peace lilies tend to do that when they get too dry, they kind of like to stay moist but not wet.

Put Gretchen in the sink or a bucket and let her sit in a bath for a bit. It’s the best way to water peace lilies. Don’t water a little bit here and a little bit there. When she starts to droop give her another soak.

What I notice is that she is as if burned by the sun or frost, put her in her usual place and leave her there calmly and I would go for the emotional thing if everyone in the office can talk to her and say nice things to her is also good. If the water is good, let it get used to that pot for a couple of days, well, they told you that the plant is a bit dramatic but still strong for several more battles. Then tell us how it evolves

You may even want to divide her up a bit, looks super cramped in that pot. Probably have two or three plants there.

Looks super thirsty, the leaves drooping like that scream underwatering. Give it a deep soak, drain well, and keep it out of direct sun for a few days. It should perk up once the roots rehydrate properly

Oh dear, yeah it was not a good call to put her in direct sunlight. It’s normal for plants to go through “shock” where they look like shit for a bit after they are replanted. Keep her in the same conditions she was in before. Do not do anything else. Only water her when the soil is dry. She should come back – looks like she was a big healthy plant – just be patient

Worst comes to worst these dramatic bitches bounce back really well from a deadhead

Time give her time and lots of INDIRECT lighting. Also a 10 10 10 fertilizer would help greatly give her what she needs or issues lacking. Blessings

Flood it. Peace lilies are dramatic. We have several at my school and the kids love helping water them because they get to just drown them in water every week. And they love how they can really tell when the plants are “sad” and need help. They love when they’re “happy” again.

    Be carefull !
    You can drown them
    How is the soil ?
    No direct sun  filterd light

It’s just being dramatic and doing the plant equivalent of throwing itself on the ground. Water that bad it and watch in amazement as it comes back to life like “whut?”

Thank you all! We start watering her more frequently!

Do yourself a favor and check the plant to the right for spidermites.
