An Osage orange(Maclura pomifera) also known as a hedge apple, it’s in the same family as mulberries and jackfruit

Here we call them hedge apples. Osage orange is another name. Maybe it depends on where you live…

My grandmother would have me cut them in half and throw them underneath her pier and beam home. She never had roaches or mice.

Where my wife grew up, they called them monkey balls.

Osage Orange! Very cool tree with a lot of history. I’ve read it is so dispersed across North America because giant prehistoric mammals ate it during migration and pooped the seeds everywhere.

Isn’t it supposed to keep spiders and other insects away if you place them near exterior doors in your house?

It’s a devil fruit, eat it and tell us what powers you get.
