Pacific Northwest. First time home owner (closed Sep 4th) and realized – shit I have a lawn to take care of now. It was in decent shape but quite brown and tons of weeds. Started looking around online and stumbled across this sub. The amount of knowledge I gained about lawn care by scrolling and reading comments is awesome and really helped me get a start to getting my lawn on the right track. Some of the lawns on here…😅👀 GOALS.

Here’s my progress so far, before/after. I weeded manually (have a dog who’s all over the lawns so I try to avoid chemicals where I can), dethatched and fertilized and then overseeded with JB sun and shade seed grown in Oregon (got from my local Home Depot, looking for something that was just pure grass seed) on 9/28. It’s getting into rainy season now, so I did one more round of fertilizer a couple of days ago before the rain hit.

What do I need to do later this fall before winter or in spring to get my lawn to that next level and looking like some of the lawns on here? I’m hoping I can get that dark green, full luscious grass I’m seeing on some of these posts on the sub. Any tips are appreciated!

Awesome progress and congrats on the new home. This fall keep the lawn clear of leaves and give it one last mow before winter hits. In early spring try a pre emergent to prevent weeds and consider a soil test to fine tune your fertilizer plan. You are doing great already and your lawn is only going to get better.
