Hannah Becket, of Sage Green Landscape Design, will showcase her thought-provoking ‘Nature’s Resilience’ garden at the NEC in Birmingham this June.

The garden features pollinator-friendly planting, unusual sculptures, and community collaboration.

It is designed to convey a message of hope, sustainability, and connection.

Inspired by the show’s theme of ‘Cultivating Connections’, the 4x4m garden contrasts a reclaimed wasteland with lush, pollinator-friendly planting.

The two zones are connected by a striking archway—half sculpted by Hannah with the help of local blacksmith Metal Dreams, and the other half hand-woven from living willow.

This design element reflects the hidden underground mycorrhizal networks that allow plants to communicate and share resources.

At the centre of the garden, two life-sized figures reach toward one another—one crafted using chicken wire and recycled rubbish, the other alive with plants and housing an insect hotel within her dress.

This creates both a visual and ecological focal point.

Ms Becket said: “I wanted to show how we can reconnect with nature, and each other, even in damaged spaces.

“This garden is a hopeful call to action, using creativity, recycled materials, and pollinator planting to show what’s possible—even in small spaces.”

The garden is built using donated, reused, and found materials.

It is the product of collaboration with local makers, family, and St Barnabas Primary School.

After the show, elements of ‘Nature’s Resilience’ will be relocated to the school.
