This is probably one of the best figs for the UK. Violetta De Sollies or Bourjasotte Noir. This can ripen fairly early (for UK) and still produces this in cold weather. This was grown in a greenhouse for the last couple of months (but started of outside and spent most of time there). Here we have had below 15 degree weather with almost no sun in the past week and yet it still produced this. Also when they are less ripe than this they still taste great. When they are like this it's like some type of dessert. I thought this has to be where the word "delicacy" comes from because they are very delicate and like a dessert.
