Trying to decide whether to renovate this barn on my property into a garage/gym/man cave or demolish it and build something new! Budget is around 50k. Would like to add concrete slab, insulate, new roof, and some sort of climate control. Any chance with my budget?

Forgot to mention we want to gut it and remove the loft above and the enclosed rooms to make it look and feel bigger!
I would love to have that building. I could make so much maple syrup in there.
I think you should keep the exterior as it is, but that is just my 2 cents. The interior can be done however, but the outside looks amazing.
I’d personally scrape it and start over — would probably be cheaper
That being said I’m going through the same thing right now with one of my outbuildings! I want it to be a movie/football room. I want to keep the original structure and spending a little more to do that
Just got electrical done, after snow melts I’ll get insulation and walls done with floor finished and building a bar. Wood stove will go in now that insurance has approved that
So far it’s fucking freezing in there but I have a giant TV in there so that’s a good start. Bundling up and streaming a movie in the middle of the woods with no cell signal is a lovely luxury
I think doing what you want to this will be out of your budget, but also tearing this down and doing that for a new building is probably also out of your budget, or it will be 1/4 the size at best.
Why not leave this and build the other one?
I wouldn’t demolish it but I don’t think you will be happy with the end product of fixing it up. I would keep it and build another building next to it to fit your needs. The current building still looks solid enough and good for dry storage.
Demo and build a pole barn.
