This time, I stayed at Hoshinoya Kyoto.
I took the time to visit and shoot photos of Hoshinoya Kyoto’s garden.
Please take your time and have a look.
HOSHINOYA Kyoto

This time I stayed at “HOSHINOYA Kyoto” in Arashiyama, Kyoto. Arashiyama is a place rich in nature. The garden blends with the richness of nature. I went to see and shoot the gardens. With that, I head to the hotel to enjoy the delicious food. I moved from Kyoto Station to Saga-Arashiyama Station. I arrived at Arashiyama.
For me, Arashiyama is full of tourists after a long absence. When I first visited Arashiyama, I once thought that this place was so beautiful that I wished I could live here. After a short walk in Arashiyama, I headed to “Hoshinoya Kyoto”. HOSHINOYA Kyoto will use a boat to get to the hotel. Wait for a while for a boat at this place. There is also a garden here. I feel that the modern garden with straight lines matches the building with many straight lines. Looks like the boat has arrived. Head to the inn. The inn came into view. Trolley. Water Garden The leaves were starting to turn a little red. This garden, with its many straight lines, was created in collaboration with a landscape architect and Niwashi from Kyoto. Koetsu-ji Fence The straight lines and the soft lines of the trees on the opposite side. The contrast between the two is truly pleasant. I continue further into the inn. Approach The approach into each room consisted of various types of Nobedan. It shows the playful spirit typical of Japanese gardeners. Teppo Fence Bamboo fence, one at each entrance, separates the privacy space from the public space. The bamboo is also made using comparatively thicker bamboo, giving it a sense of massiveness. It matches this space. I just simply think the Teppo(Gun) fences are cool. Kenninji fence I find this atmosphere of humid Japanese gardens really beautiful. Sarcandra glabra
(Senryo) Ardisia crenata
(Manryo) Rhododendron
(Shakunage) Acer palmatum
(Iroha Momiji) inner garden Kawara tiles are used in an upright position to create the appearance of sand patterns in a karesansui. It looks like a stream flowing right beside it. Above all, the gravel crests make it impossible to go inside, but this design makes it possible. Although the design is in the classic karesansui form, it is not overly symbolic, and I believe the design is in keeping with modern lifestyles. I was escorted to my room. The view from the room is also really beautiful. The dinner I was looking forward to begins. The next morning Open the window and it’s right on the river. The gardener had been maintaining the garden since the morning. The regular maintenance of the garden kept it in a very beautiful condition. Breakfast was also prepared for me.
It was also wonderful. Hoshino Resort has been kind in providing me with this wonderful hotel stay as a token of their support for my activities. When you visit Kyoto, please come to HOSHINOYA Kyoto to enjoy the garden and space that is uniquely Japanese, and the refined service.I hope you will enjoy the refined service.

Delightful and stunning visuals ! But I'm not sure if I like the music…
Excellent video! Great direction for the channel, not only documenting the construction of the gardens, but how they're enjoyed, too. Keep up the good work!
From the beginning music I was expecting a Yamaka garden.
beautiful video about a beautiful place! thank you. but the music was very strange. i felt like there is another tab in my browser, playing some music for some other video completely not related to this one.
This has given me new ideas for my garden. I have a space that needs something special. Now I have a plan!
Delightful video! Beautiful scenes. Personally "oompah" music is not for me and it did not pair well with the scenes, but that is a personal preference. I do hope to see more of these videos featuring gardens around Japan. Perhaps you will be invited by more hotels, inns and restaurants, to feature their gardens. I have been enjoying all aspects of your video series: construction, explanations about the different types of material, niwashi interviews and this type of tour. Thank you so much for your efforts!
Thank you so much for sharing the beauty of this place. I particularly like the inner garden and the incredible view from the room you stayed in.
This is not video, this is FILM
Takk!
Very well done! Great to see you in the sequence. Beautiful choice of site. The subtlety you capture is excellent. The karesansui with the flat top rocks is brilliant. So glad you see tradition as living and evolving.
Love how you edited your photographs into this video. Really well done. Also 100% support you taking on more sponsorships and partnerships like this if it helps support your work. Great job!
Beautifully edited – like a photo album. Staying at Hoshinoya in Kyoto has been a long time dream. I’m sure you deserved the break. Thank you for your work.

I loved this video so much. It was so relaxing and calming. Thank you so much for showing the beauty of Japan and its amazing gardens to all!
It never occurred to me that you could put tiles into a gravel bed like that, to make wave patterns. Very interesting!
I've bookmarked the hotel….🥰
Thank you so much for the beautiful film.
Your video’s are a joy to watch, lovely works of art. As someone who works in horticulture I find them to be very inspirational.
This vidéo was very interesting (as usual !) and makes your country lifestyle very attractive. Thank you
