The new Anime Garden – Painterly Asset Library for Blender, created by Craftreaper in collaboration with BD3D, delivers more than 200 stylised foliage assets designed for painterly and anime-inspired environments. The pack is available on Gumroad and is being offered at a reduced price until 5 November.
Designed for EEVEE Next
According to the vendor, the asset pack is optimised for Blender 4.5 LTS and particularly benefits from EEVEE Next, the real-time renderer introduced in recent Blender builds. While Cycles is supported, the creators caution that it is “very GPU heavy”. The pack does not include its own scattering system. Instead, it is built to work with popular third-party scatterers such as GeoScatter (Pro), GScatter, and BagaPie. To populate environments quickly, the pack includes a collection of pre-built biomes, ready-made groupings of foliage assets that can be placed in scenes using either GeoScatter or the free Biome Reader add-on.
Customisation and Animation via WindFX
Each asset can be customised and combined for diverse natural environments, from dense forests to stylised maze gardens. While the pack does not include baked animation presets, the creators supply a free WindFX add-on that allows artists to simulate wind-driven movement procedurally within Blender.
Technical Notes and Limitations
Craftreaper recommends Blender 4.5 or newer to gain full performance benefits; earlier versions with EEVEE Next will function but may lack optimisations. The pack uses procedural shaders extensively, meaning exporting to game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine is not advised. Some hand-painted texture assets are included and may be adapted manually for real-time use, but the creators explicitly note this workflow is unsupported.
Summary
Anime Garden provides Blender artists with a large, hand-crafted foliage library in a painterly, Ghibli-inspired style, designed for EEVEE rendering. The pack’s customisation options and integration with external scattering add-ons make it a flexible tool for stylised environment work inside Blender. As always, testing theassets thoroughly before integrating them into active production pipelines is vital.
