

Doing my tree maintenance based on what I've read and seen here. Here's what I've uncovered for my turkey oak.
This looks like this could be problematic girdling in the future, but I can't fathom cutting what seems to be the largest root. I would obviously wait until the tree is dormant, but woukd you cut this root?

Lmao everyone is just going out to any little twig they see and uncovering the roots now thinking they’re the big hero
Not an arborist but you may want to cut it back in steps if you’re worried about it. Something like don’t take more than 1/3rd off at a time.
That root will definitely be a likely fatal problem in the future. Return that to the nursery for a new one, shouldn’t be a problem.
