Chatsworth House will celebrate Christmas 2025 with The Enchanted Garden, an immersive new theme that transforms the Derbyshire estate into a living artwork of light, sound and storytelling. Running from 8 November 2025 to 4 January 2026, the experience invites visitors to explore nature’s quiet winter magic through spectacular installations across the house and gardens.

An Artistic Collaboration Celebrating Nature’s Hidden Magic

Created in collaboration with acclaimed British artists and animators, The Enchanted Garden brings together traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology. Visitors will step through 20 transformed spaces, each inspired by the natural world — from towering Christmas trees and glistening copper toadstools to a grand cluster of mistletoe and twirling oak leaf archways.

Award-winning mixed-reality artists Studio McGuire lead the creative vision, crafting bespoke animations, projections and original music that immerse guests in a magical woodland dreamscape. Expect enchanted fairies, shimmering silhouettes, and secret creatures peeking from hidden corners, each element designed to evoke the wonder and stillness of winter.

Immersive Artistry Throughout House and Garden

Inside the house, visitors will follow a trail of light, floral installations, and natural textures, creating a sensory connection between art and environment. Every room tells a part of the story — celebrating growth, renewal, and the unseen beauty of the natural world.

Outdoors, the gardens come alive with a captivating light trail by Luminism, transforming Chatsworth’s iconic landmarks — including the Cascade, Rock Garden, and Willow Tree Fountain — into radiant displays of movement and reflection. The experience culminates in a spectacular animated light and sound projection on the house façade, again brought to life by Studio McGuire.

The Enchanted Garden also highlights local creativity. New commissions from Peak District-based artists — Winning Works, Everdenes, Wirksworth Pottery and Waney Grain — are showcased alongside treasures from the Devonshire Collections. Visitors will also encounter majestic willow sculptures by internationally acclaimed artist Emma Stothard, whose work perfectly captures the wild essence of nature.

Festive Highlights Across the Estate

Christmas at Chatsworth extends far beyond the art and installations. The famous Christmas market, running from 8 November to 14 December 2025, will host over 100 exhibitors offering handcrafted gifts, local produce and festive treats. The Orangery and Stables shops will feature sustainable gifts and homewares by regional designers and craftspeople, while The Parlour’s new emporium space will offer gourmet festive food, drinks and giftware.

For those seeking a truly elegant celebration, the Winter Ball returns on 13 and 20 December, featuring canapés in the Painted Hall, a four-course dinner, fine wine, and live entertainment — a highlight of Chatsworth’s festive calendar.
