As autumn deepens and a gentle coolness fills the air, the Hengqin Flower Corridor (橫琴花海長廊) bursts into a spectacular bloom. The spider flowers (Cleome hassleriana), also known as “butterfly flowers” in Chinese, are now at their peak flowering season, lasting through the end of October.
Stepping into Station No. 5 along the Flower Corridor, you’ll be instantly captivated by the 15,000-square-meter flower field, layered in soft pinks, whites, and purples.
Known for its graceful shape, the spider flower gets its Chinese name “醉蝶花” (drunken butterfly flower) because its petals are slender and claw-like, fluttering like butterflies in the breeze. The color of the blossoms subtly shifts over time: starting as pure pinkish-white, turning to tender pink in full bloom, and deepening to purple-red toward the end of the season.
Visitors wander through the fields, stopping to take photos and enjoy the pleasant fragrance that drifts through the air.
Adding to the charm, “rainbows,” “deer,” and “rabbits” are scattered throughout the floral landscape.
Flower lovers shouldn’t miss this autumn escape. Slow down, take a stroll, and let the Hengqin Flower Corridor brighten your day.
