Nagpur: As Diwali draws near, the festive shopping frenzy in Nagpur has reached its peak — and the city’s Netaji Flower Market is the clearest sign of it. From early morning, the market witnessed heavy crowds as buyers poured in to purchase traditional flowers for worship and home decoration. Marigold, chrysanthemum, and lotus flowers have seen record-breaking sales this year.
The city is abuzz with Diwali cheer — homes being decorated, torans (door garlands) being hung, and rangolis being designed. For all these rituals, people rushed to the market at dawn to secure the best flowers. Both wholesale and retail stalls were packed to the brim, with barely any space to move.
Even with rising prices, buyers showed no hesitation. Marigold garlands and colorful floral torans remained the top picks, with women flocking to get their preferred shades. Demand for chrysanthemums and roses also surged sharply. Lotus flowers, widely used for the Lakshmi Puja, saw a steep increase in price due to heavy demand.

This booming business has brought welcome profits to local flower growers. Farmers from Nagpur and nearby areas, who reported good yields this season, are receiving excellent rates for their produce. With wholesale prices climbing steadily, farmers’ faces are glowing with satisfaction this festive season.
According to traders at the market, this year’s demand has been the highest in recent memory. “We’ve never seen sales like this before Diwali,” said one vendor, beaming as he served a long line of customers. As the festival approaches, the flower markets of Nagpur continue to bloom — both in color and commerce.
