We bought an 1867 cottage on a very rundown 30 acres a year and a half ago, and every day I uncover a fun new surprise! Today it was this bluestone path. It seems to have been buried intentionally; who knows why or for how long, but I love stone pathways. Anyway, there is dirt all between the bluestone and that’s super problematic for weeds – what are my options? Can I put mortar on the dirt in the gaps to make the path inhabitable for things that want to grow in the gaps? TIA!

Now you know why they buried it 😂.I just spread grass seed on mine and pulled whatever weeds showed up and within a few months the grass filled in nicely
Sand usually is a good filler in between flagstone and other flat rocks used for walk ways. Some use quick-Crete but thats messy and gets on the stones.
