They kill the tree slowly by sucking the tree’s sap. They are considered invasive. You should report it to your state and kill them

Kill these insects, they are highly invasive and at this point its surprising you’re in the NE and don’t know that. Not trying to be rude, but there has been a very public concerted effort to eradicate these things.

KILL THEM WITH HASTE. they are horrendously bad flyers but WILL manage to fly into your face and you, they are also annoying large. exterminate with extreme prejudice
