The Ider Hornets played host to the Spring Garden Panthers at Wayne Hardiman Stadium Friday night.
Spring Garden took control early, jumping out to a 14-0 lead midway through the second quarter.
The Hornets found the end zone when Brayden Castleberry scored from one yard out with 5:50 left in the first half. Spring Garden took a 14-6 halftime lead into the locker room.
Neither team was able to score in the third quarter, but on the first play of the fourth quarter, Spring Garden found the end zone from 12 yards out to extend the lead to 21-6.
The Panthers scored for the final time in the game with 9:18 left to go up 28-6.
Ider’s Braxton Traylor scored on a 35-yard touchdown run with 7:48 left in the contest. Castleberry added 2 2-point conversions to cut the lead to 14, at 28-14.
Ider was unable to score again in the late moments of the game and fell 28-14.
Traylor finished with 14 carries for 86 yards and a touchdown. Castleberry finished with 12 carries for 35 yards and a touchdown. Taylor Kidwell had 14 carries for 49 yards rushing.
Ider falls to 1-7 (0-5) on the season. The Hornets will travel to Ragland next Friday night.
