Firstly, I'm not actually too sure what kind of plant this is – It was left to me following a family members passing. Second, I haven't really looked at this plant properly for a few months as it's hidden in the corner of my room – but when I checked last week it is COVERED in sticky stuff with dead (?) Tiny bugs stuck in the stuff?
What are these bugs? How do I get them off? They're not on the other plants which literally touch this one which is weird (unless they are and they're hiding I guess?)

  • Plant gets watered when the soil looks dry, maybe just over once a week. I feel like I should water more but she's pushing out leaves and flowers like noones business

  • Plant is in a west facing window, gets partial sun for 2-3 hours a day and indirect for the rest

Any advice is welcome ♡

Horrible scale infestation. Those bugs aren’t dead. they make a sc a ly covering to protect themselves.

Awful scale infestation. Neem oil all over and be sure to keep away from other plants to avoid spread.

Scale. You are going to want patience, q-tips and alcohol and you are going to need to wash it by hand on a consistent schedule.

Looking at scale they have a decently long life cycle so probably cleaning once a week until it’s clear for more than 2 months.

So weekly cleaning for the next 3-6 months.

Agree with others this is a pretty bad scale infestation! Isolate it immediately!!!

As everyone else said it’s scale, the plant is an anthurium andraeanum

That top leaf has Scale all the way down it.
With a Cotton Ball soaked in Isopropyl Alcohol 70%
Wipe it all over the plant – don’t forget under the leaves.
Quarantine from the rest of your plants & repeat the process in 2 weeks.
Check all of your plants treat them also if they have it

Definitely scale. You have to handwash every one of those buggers off and hope they haven’t gotten in the dirt as well.

Do it soon, bc the entire thing about scale is that once they form their hard shell (as it appears some have, since they turn brown when they do), you have to remove the diseased parts of the plant because you won’t be able to wipe away the scale without injuring the plant.

Does anyone know if neem works on these?

Scale. Get 100% alcohol and cotton pads and start wiping. You will have to repeat with some frequency. Cutting off the worst leaves will help.
