Scores of vendors and thousands of blooming plants are drawing shoppers to the third annual Plant and Garden Festival in downtown Lake Wales this weekend. The events is taking place at the Woman’s Club building at 250 East Park Avenue, adjacent to the Lake Wales Public Library.

The big show is sponsored by the GFWC Lake Wales Woman’s Club and features vendors representing nurseries from across the state of Florida. Among the plants are both leafy exotics and plenty of native pollinator blooms.

The colorful event runs through 2 p.m. Sunday, when vendors begin to break down their elaborate and colorful displays to travel back to their homes in the far corners of Florida. Until then, shoppers will find dazzling arrays of flowering plants, trees, shrubs, and seasonal ornamentals, along with various sorts of edible plants and fruit-bearing trees.
