First time with this plant. I’m thinking about cutting apart the lengthy sections for propagation. I’ve had in a few different spots around the house and it keeps growing these really big empty sections. I know monstera does this when it wants more light. Is that the same here?

It needs way more light. Then the internode will be shorter and the leaves will continually grow larger.

Not enough light, that’s why you get leggy plant and tiny leaves

Yeah, it needs more light. I’d chop & prop!

It’s bushy if given the right conditions. It’s lacking light

This is very etiolated (leggy) needs wayyyyyy more light. Either a plant light or a good window. Introduce it gradually to avoid burns on the leaves.

Our plants usually tell us what we’re doing wrong. A plant that looks like this needs more light to grow leaves closer together and bigger and more defined. A Barrina grow light will help it greatly if available windows don’t offer enough light.

While it does need more light, philodendrons are vining plants. They’re never going to be bushy. You could plant multiple in one pot for a more full look.
