This is a Siberian Crab Apple Tree. These roots look like they were hit lawn mower or something by the previous owners. There are also mushrooms growing at the base, despite the area being in a drought. We just got the house and the top of the tree looked dead in May with only a partial blossom but we did not get pictures before we took possession of the house. We were told it was only a dead branch but now think it’s worse than that. We believe the tree is 25+ years old and want to save it if possible; any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
