   Thanks Gary. I had decided to build some rained beds for next year so your timing is perfect. We are dealing with 2 squirrels who arrived two years ago. Now since last week we have been invaded by a clan of 6 or 7 BIG raccoons. On my patio. In a city. I'm thinking I might need to be racoon and squirrel proofing my veggies and fruits. Always an adventure.😊

   I have moles and gophers so I would staple hardware cloth onto the bottom. Moles and gophers have eaten the roots off 7 out of 9 fruit trees I planted two years ago. Expensive lesson.

   Sounds good; will be following! My first bed was a 4'x8' and there was quite a bit of shading going on, even by medium-sized plants. I'm only adding Greenstalks in 2026, but will probably add at least one 2'x4' or 2'x 6' the following year. I will change the orientation too.
