Idk how to ask what I want to but I’m trying to avoid co-dominant leader or a split in the tree.
This is a Bur Oak sapling I’m planting tomorrow. (I meant to plant about a month ago but we are frost free for a few more weeks)
Should I just stake this straight up or is this going to be a split tree?
What is the best way to grow this correctly at this point.
(There are two in the container I’m asking about the taller one that’s on the left)

Looks like a new leader to me. Though why is the main trunk stopped?
you kept it inside during frost?
oaks tend to do poorly in pots if you have a place for it to grow in the ground and there is time left in planting season id suggest that
That will be a new leader. After planting you should keep it watered and let it’s do its thing. When it comes back next year I would want it to have as many leaves as possible. Wait till year 3 or so and start reducing back co dominant leaders
