New FLF owner here. Bought this beauty off of marketplace to go in our new home. It’s over 5ft tall and it’s in front of a sunny wall of SW facing windows. Should I expect some falling leaves since it’s in a new home? How often do I water and how much (volume) do I give it? It’s in a “self draining” pot but I also want to avoid giving it wet feet. Thanks!

Unless the sun sets/rises and directly shines light through that window on your new tree, it needs to be closer to the windows. FLF are tropical trees used to full sun and can live indoors but need consideration for light. Pretend you’re the tree’s leaves, stand in its position and see how much sky is visible. Water well only when dry, you can tell your tree is becoming dehydrated when the veins on the underside become prominent
I’ve bought two flf’s from different homes who handled the move absolutely fine with zero leaf drop. Reading this sub it would seem that looking at these guys the wrong way would make leaves drop. This is not a humble brag as I’m pretty shitty with plants most of the time. Just reassurance they’re not as difficult as sometimes portrayed (or I’ve just been really lucky.)
I stick my finger in the soil and wait for the top two inches to be dry. I lean drier than wetter and give plenty of sun. When do water I do thoroughly and let drain.
