Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will be hosting a fun craft workshop at the end of the month.

Program Director Shelby Van Horn says that they will be having Art on the Fly owner Jolene Peters return to the Extension office in Guthrie Center for a pressed flower pumpkin workshop for those interested in participating in the craft. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio why they wanted to do this.

“As the fall and the winter kind of pick up, people are kind of looking for something fun to do, get out with their friends, have a fun night out. And so we like to partner with Jolene with Art on the Fly. She has some creative things that she did. We did chunky blankets and wooden signs last year.”

Van Horn mentions that attendees will be able to learn different methods for pressing flowers, and the best flowers to press for fall decor and seasonal gifts. She adds that the fee to participate is $40, which covers all supplies, including the two pumpkins they will be able to decorate.
