The broken leaves are no problem. Happens to all of us sometimes during repotting, plant could not care less. The very heavy looking soil, however, definitely could be a problem. What is that, and did you add any extra grit to it? Succulents need very loose, gritty, well draining and fast drying soil. They like a good watering, but they don’t like their feet staying wet for long. Rich soil that dries too slowly can cause root problems and rot, even if you don’t water often.
