FORREST CITY — The third in a series of home gardening workshops is set for Monday in Forrest City. It will be held at the Larry S. Bryant Multi-Purpose & Wellness Center starting at 5 p.m. Monday.
“We have a large garden, as an old person would say a green patch back there and we allow the public to come back there to pick their greens,” said Forrest City Mayor Larry Bryant. “Hundreds of people have utilized that service and picked a bag of greens and took them home, and everybody’s been happy.”
The city received a grant through the Arkansas Cancer Coalition to fund both the garden and the workshops, which will continue monthly through next May.
“That’s part of the activity is to try to teach people how to produce fruits and vegetables,” Bryant said.
