I really appreciate this channel as I’ve learned so much…and I love how much Aaron does in this space…the building/foundation, trees, and grass, and Xmas lights, electrical, water etc…❤❤❤ those handmade pots are beautiful 🤩
Samantha and Benjamin seem so wanting to help you when you’re planting. Would you consider giving them their own small garden space that they can choose plants and maintain? The are the cutest helpers to watch.
While uplighting is attractive, it also makes me cringe. I miss dark nights when stars shine so brightly. If you ever add outdoor lighting, I hope you limit the time they are on to reduce light pollution.
Since the Christmas lights on the buildings light areas similar to what landscape lighting would do, why not just use white lights on the buildings and leave them up year round?
Can you help me to understand phrasing on PW website? I live in AZ zone 9b/10 and was looking to refresh potted plants. If a annual plant gives a zone, but then says “ except in zone 9-10”, does that mean it’s a perennial in those warmer zones? Love your videos, thank you!
As I was watching today's video, I got to thinking. Are there chipmunks or squirrels on your property? I was a bit shocked that there are magpie in Eastern Oregon. I never knew!
@GenieAdams-wp8zr I had a volunteer pumpkin that came up out of my compost pile one year and it only produced male flowers. I realized fairly quickly that it wasn’t going to grow any pumpkins, so I harvested the flowers and made fried squash blossoms stuffed with ricotta. You can find a recipe online.
Hi Laura! I just bought my very first home. I brought some potted hostas, hydrangeas, and hellebores with me. This house has some hostas and hellebores in the ground. Is there a difference in how plants react when planted from pots to the ground vs transplanted from one spot of the yard to another? Is now a good time to do that in 7b (Atlanta) if I want to move some plants around the garden? Thank you so much.
I have Hawthorn trees in the milder wetter climate of Puget Sound and yes they do reseed themselves sometimes but the seedlings grow slowly and I just pull them out easily when I find one.
Hey L&A!! Back off of my favorite show. Of course you try things that fail. It’s your job to plant and redo and progress in your garden areas. It wasn’t dumb to try the rose garden. I was excited for it and it would have been perfect for some people. Just didn’t work for you. Besides look at how many more informative videos you got to make from that experiment. I’m 82,- and spent a ton of money setting up a new raised bed area, dumbest thing I’ve done. Ended up with less planting space and way more expense because it took so much purchased soil But in another situation- like your strawberries it was perfect. It’s all part of the adventure of life.
Would you consider doing a video like you have done for 15 Perennials every garden should have or bulb order etc. but do a video on grasses with shade, sun, height not falling over in the wind or rain?
You two are too cute! I love the sweet bantering. I have a Hawthorne that has thorns 😢. It is small now. It was a stick. I'm trying to find a great spot for it. Being small, the grands could get stuck by it. Would you place it into a pot and plant around it like you do with other trees?
I have found that if butternut squash get frost on them they will start developing mold on them when you put them in storage. I usually harvest mine once the stem is hard, and then I will store the in a cool dry place. I can usually get them to store through February.
Failing upward here! You guys help me so much. I’m not afraid to try things or wonder too long about moving plants. I just cut back and cleaned up the gardens. I received my new auger from you and I am getting ready to plant my bulbs. Thank you so much for all you, and your crew, give to all of us!
Just finishing up with my three plots in the Community Garden. I had a very successful gardening season and I attribute that to following your advice on building an irrigation system. It worked so well and now I have other gardeners asking for advice. I just send them to your channel! Thanks Guys!
It's amazing Laura how you are always right. News flash it is not becoming to you. I love your husband and he really does a great job of putting up with all your 😢attitude 😢
You never really show areas that you „secretly“ retool 😂.- except the rose garden. It would be good to show a „realistic“ situation. All gardeners make mistakes….😅
You can keep your phones from listening to you. Find a video that takes you step by step on the settings for iPhone. I have an Android so don't know about your phones. ❤
In ground landscape uplighting is REALLY expensive. ($300 – $600 per fixture). The fixtures are stout and waterproof and need full voltage. It’s a great goal but usually outside of a homeowners budget. We’ve installed low to ground black fixtures with a low voltage system and have been very happy with it. The down light pathway fixtures disappear in the landscape edge as do the flood lights we use to uplight our trees. It’s more of a challenge for Aaron with trees in the lawn area.
My mother ( born in 1919) grew up in the badlands of North Dakota where/when there was a bounty on magpie wings. Is there a bounty on them in your area?
The question about growing lavender inside bought to mind my idea to bring some herbs (specifically parsley and oregano) inside for the winter to grow under LED grow lights or would they not do well?
Hi guys 👋, watching the catch up videos makes me smile so much , the chats between you are great. I can’t help it but I love Aaron’s smile when tree talk comes up. You really are a wonderful couple. Advertising is definitely catered to viewers in the Uk ours are for stores, and products from here. Take care xx xx xx
About the west side boxwood overhaul…I'M SO EXCITED!!!🤗 I'm one of those dorks that starts your videos over from the beginning lol. As a newbie, I love the whole journey. I just got to the west side boxwood 3 part series and ya know, it still looked really cool, even not as a hedge. But now the trees are big and beautiful, the lamium will grow in more thick next year and the arbs are big! Watching this space evolve is going to be so much fun! I can't wait for next season already, you guys got this!!💚✌🏽

Ahhh…those pots that someone sent you are sooooo sweet! Thanks for sharing! Love your videos!
Con on the lighting – it's not good for birds or bugs. FWIW.

I've got an idea, call it the Eastern Dirtlands.
We live in Illinois and YES a cockspur hawrhorne will reseed from dropped berries

The sass…I love it!!!
Chickens love getting hugs too! Most of them. Do the kids give them hugs or hold them in their laps?
Why not buy the lighting supplies and put them away. Then doing one area at a time going forward.

Could the Dirt lLands just eventually be called the horse pasture? Can't imagine you not having a spot set aside to grow crops like corn and pumpkins.

Hoselink do garden lighting.

Thanks for the recap video. Have a good week.

No!! Don't change the name of dirt land!! I like that😊❤️

What ever happened to your cinnamon tree??
I think the hawthorn berries have to pass through a bird to germinate.
Don’t tell Benjamin that splitting open an hawthorn berry and popping it down someone’s back makes them itch..🤫😀 It’s an older brother thing 😬

There’s also such a thing as light pollution! I wish people would discuss with their neighbors before going “ overboard” with lighting.
Siri is always listening… consequently diamonds will show up on ur feed! A bit disconcerting.
The handmade pots are so beautiful!!!…such a lovely gift ❤❤❤❤❤

Could you put a Puffer Fish hedge where the arborescens are?
You need to make sure you turn off siri and that will cut down on ads on phones, computer etc.

Oh, I had a question too about an update. How is the progress with the two-story building beside your raised-bed vegetable garden coming?
What about the row of shrubs over by the parking area along the fence. Are they a fail?

Since lighting the garden is expensive how about putting just a few old-fashioned triple bulb street lights out there?
Kind of Narnia-esque. 😎
Great enthusiasm today! Fall garden tour in the bag and ever so lovely! All those big trees are making a difference!
