fleeing from a predator is my feeling. it’s happened at my home often and they slam into windows. your company was far more pefered to whatever was outside. very cool interaction indeed.

Looks like a juvenile male to me. Next time get an clean eye dropper and feed him a 20% water and cane sugar water solution. You will have a friend for the rest of the season.

I don’t think I realized their beaks opened… I figured it was just a proboscis with a long tongue for lapping nectar.
