I really have no idea how to take care of it, but just being around it brings me peace haha

My roomie gifted it to me and told me I only need to pop the lid and let it air out if moisture gets inside and that there is no need to water it. Seems too good to be true honestly. But I don’t even really know what it’s called, does anyone else have a plant similar? Sorry for the million questions but I just turned 30 and I’d like this thing to be around a while I’m kind of attached. 😂

Aww what a cute gift! I love everything you’ve got in there. I would have chosen a pink hypoestes instead of the yellow one, but it’s absolutely beautiful!

This is a few different types of plants. The left and right are fittonia and then the middle appears to be a Hoya and the back is a scindapsus. I’m not very experienced keeping plants this way but it looks nice. Good luck!

There’s a dinosaur behind that terrarium!

    Looks lovely and very interesting.

I’ve never kept a terrarium, so I can’t really help. I am sure someone on this sub will know more about it. If they don’t then I’d suggest trying the Terrarium sub.

I think if you open it, you will need to add water I would imagine.

Check out r/terrariums! They’ll be of great help 🙂

I absolutely love that there’s a hoya in the middle! It’s my absolute favorite genus of plants. I believe you’ve been bitten by the plant bug, and you’re on your way to becoming a plant person like me! Plant people are the best!!! I think this is a perfect plant set up for someone new to plants. It’s a self-contained environment that keeps the plants moist. Just keep it in a bright location! Remember that light is a plant’s food source, so without enough light, they can get hungry, like you or I. A south facing window out of direct sunlight would be good. Occasionally, open it to add moisture, with fertilizer mixed in, via a spray bottle. They’ll really be happy for it. And… Happy birthday to you!!!!

Yea! A fittonia! I’m going to try to grow some from seed.

Well the hypoestes (polka dot) is one of my absolute favorites! I’ve been growing mine from seeds so they are kind of special to me. ❤️

In my experience you should only open it if it gets so wet that the inside walls are foggy/drippy. Then just let it air out for a few hours and then pop the lid back on. If it gets really droopy and dry give it a squirt of water and seal it back up and then keep an eye on it to see if it needs another one. Other than that, make sure it gets light but not too much!

If done right it could go indefinitely without ever being opened. I’ve been trying to get it right but nothing good yet. But look up the hobby/art/process. It’s wild.

I have a very similar one. If the plants aren’t wilting and there’s regular condensation inside the glass you don’t need to do anything just keep it out if direct light, rotate every now and then and use long scissors to cut back plants occasionally. If it looks too foggy open the top for a couple minutes. If you aren’t getting condensation then use a few squirts of the spray bottle and repeat when you remember to.

That was a thing that gained popularity during the pandemic here in Germany! My partner also got one gifted- after four years ours is the only one that survived. I love this Flaschengarten.

What a great gift.  The fittonia makes me laugh though, as mine is one of my most dramatic and frustrating plants.  Apparently yours is quite happy just chillin, whereas mine fakes its death every few days.
