⏳🌿 5 hours of work in just 25 seconds! 🌿⏳
Here’s a little time-lapse of me potting up some of our seed grown Aloe alooides, planted earlier this year. It’s amazing to see how far they’ve come already and this is just the start of their journey!
Aloe alooides is one of my favourite aloes tall, striking, and with flower spikes that are absolute showstoppers. By giving these little seedlings fresh space to grow, we’re setting them up to thrive and (eventually) put on their own massive flower displays. 🌼🌵
It’s all part of the behind-the-scenes work here at the nursery hours of potting, weeding, repotting, and caring for every single plant so they can become the showstoppers you see when you visit.
📍 Come check out what’s new at Tough Love Garden Supply there’s always something growing, blooming, or being repotted!
🕘 Open Tuesday–Sunday | 10am–4pm (Spring hours 🌼)

This week’s cactus of the week is Echno Cactus Christini and otherwise known as golden barrel cactus or mother-in-law’s cushion. As you can hear, how is a bit of a mother-in-law’s cushion, but I don’t know how it got that name. This one is a little unusual. Normally, they go round and then they’ll offset when they’re older. But this one at some point in its life got damaged, burnt, or something happened to it and it’s shot three offsets from the top. These offsets have now either become squished or crested, making it a really unique plant. Now, let’s take a better look at this one. These guys origate originated from Mexico. And unfortunately, they’re critically endangered in their native habitat due to habitat loss and poaching. But luckily, these guys are very commonly used in landscaping. And you can find them right around the world. And this one, this big one in particularly is in particular is 30 years old and it come from Lockxton. When we got it, it was in an old wheelbar and we removed it and the wheelbarrow pretty much fell apart and somehow it say stayed supported. But yeah, come down to Tough Love Garden Supply and maybe take one of these beauties home for your own garden.
