Hi everyone! I made a "Plant Matcher" tool to help you find the plants that fit your space, for my class project. I believe it will be very useful in your planting planning process, especially for beginners. Link to the "Find My Plant Match" tool.
The project focuses on container growing in challenging urban small-spaces. It basically evaluates your space (light, wind, etc) and your gardening preferences, and then recommends right plants for you.
It's a DEMO prototype to let you feel the idea. The evaluation process is simplified and the plant library is not done yet, meaning it's not yet functional.
Will you use the fully functional version in your garden planning? Please leave your comments here or via this feedback survey.
Thank you!

I just tried it. This is an intriguing idea that I would be interested in trying after it is more fleshed out.
It gave me one result to plant in a small container: chives. I do have chives in that general area already that seem to do well, so the app does seem to be honing in on something good. It would be nice to have several plants to pick from, but I understand that the app is still barebones right now.
There is one rather funny typo that made me chuckle. On the page where it asks for the goal in this garden, one of the options says, “Safe for kids/pests.” I’m assuming you mean pets and that you are not asking if we want a pest safe environment. 🤔😂
This is an awesome start! I too look forward to seeing the finished product. I would also like to mention that I am a retired IT executive and the last 10 years of my career was focused user experience and user interface design. If you ever need any help or advice, feel free to ping me. No strings attached.
Great idea, filled out the feedback form. Thanks for sharing!
