We were away on vacation for two weeks and just got back – found this plant growing up the side of our house (not sure if it was already there and we didn’t notice it before)! It looks pretty so I’d be fine keeping it as long as it wouldn’t hurt our house or anything but don’t know anything about plants. Can anyone help with this?

They reseed themselves. They usually don’t get out of control. Just keep the meter face free to see. Those other boxes look like old phone line/cable boxes. We don’t even use ours anymore. So if they get covered. Oh well.

    Morning glory

I would remove them from that particular spot as you don’t want them encroaching into the meters or messing with them at all.

Keep the plant and goof up the stuff you need??
    Nope.

Grandpa Otts! Just collect a seedpod if you like it and replant next year in a better place. Although it’s unlikely that the morning glory will harm your meter, however it could cause rain and moisture to get into your meter. Even if it doesn’t it’s not a good spot for it. Once Grandpa moves in, he is likely to reappear every year and he will just appear in the most random of places.

Morning glory. Love it, however can lift siding

Morning glory, it’s ok to leave it. Soon it’ll go away on its own due to winter. I would however keep an eye on it and not let it swallow up too much of your house.

It’s probably not a good idea to have any vines growing on your service panels

Everyone is saying remove them… but I would just reroute them. It is a beautiful vine, but I would build a nice horizontal trellis to stretch across the front, maybe set off about 20cm away from the panels so the vines dont get into your house/electrical. Hide your junk and keep them protected at the same time.

If you live down south they can do damage. Up north they die back at the 1st frost.

It would look better with some bamboo planted right next to it.

That’s your electric meter. DEFINITELY keep it

You could let it grow along the ground . It’s an annual where I live n dies back each year .

Not good on the wall or the electrical panel.

I’d wait until there’s a bunch of dried up seed pods on it in a couple weeks, then rip it out so it doesn’t interfere with the meter. Throw the plant material wherever you want to grow free lovely morning glories.

I love morning glory. Don’t kill it!

It’s some type of wild clematis probably. But no, one of your utility providers will eventually make you remove it.

Morning glories typically don’t come back looking like the original plant and become invasive throughout your beds.

Morning glory is pretty but invasive. I say never trust a vine. They are audacious
