Grief in the Garden is a new workshop set to take place at Carey’s Secret Garden, near Wareham, on Saturday, November 22.
The workshop will be led by Purbeck landscape painter Jessamy Hawke and non-fiction author Georgie Codd.
The secluded setting will allow up to 12 participants to engage in guided painting and writing sessions.
Ms Codd said: “Grief is an experience that both of us have been navigating in our lives, and in the work we do.”
She added: “Through Grief in the Garden we want to create a space that offers community, mindfulness, confidentiality and creative self-expression.
“There’ll be no ‘right’ way for people to paint or write in the workshop and no pressure for anyone to share what they do.”
Ms Hawke said: “Spending time with others who have also experienced loss can be really powerful, as you have this sense of common ground.
“For me, watercolour painting is very cathartic and observing nature is way of feeling peaceful when other parts of life are really challenging.”
Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy homemade cakes and hot drinks, and can choose to add a communal wood-fired pizza lunch.
