  1. Not trying to state the obvious, but in 2-3 years you are going to be up to your tree trunk in apples. Gonna need a lot of equipment, transport, and storage for the product..
Doing the same thing here in Seattle, at a very much smaller scale. Good luck.

  2. I love this! I've enjoyed watching the story of these apple trees unfold and the preservation of heirloom varieties. We need more people like you! Humans are supposed to be the caretakers of our earth, instead we sadly poison and destroy everything in our paths.

  3. Every apple tree grown from seed is a unique hybrid. There are no heirloom apples. Propagating them asexually is the only way to preserve desirable genetic traits.

  4. This is such a great video. It's amazing how far, even plant DNA has come, who would've ever thought. Also didn't realize how big your son has gotten.

  5. Because leaves have mostly pockets of oil, I feel like he is about to contaminate all the samples by picking leaves with hands.

  6. Love what you're doing. PLEASE don't let the rabbits destroy them over the winter. Its insane what a couple rabbits will do in a night let alone over the course of a winter.

  7. What happened to the apple tasting video from the grafts? I didn't get the chance to see it

  8. Great video! Love hearing about saving apple varieties. And Cutler(?) reminds me of myself at that age! Cars and dirt are the way to go.

  9. Years ago my dad bought a small farm from an older man. There was an old apple tree there, very old. My dad bulldozed everything. I wish I knew what kind of apple tree was there.

  10. Speaking of apples trees….. Is there anyway to know which kind of apple tree was planted for the ones of us that got one???

  11. So happy to hear all of this as I had NO idea. I LOVE apples and am originally from Wash State. I am sure I ate apples every day all through my childhood. Thank you for this very important work!
