MUSKEGON, MI — That chill in the night air means it’s time to pull on your favorite hoodie and roast a s’more. Two Lakeshore businesses are teaming up for a community bonfire to gear up for autumn.
Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park, located at 462 N Scenic Drive in Muskegon, keeps its cross-country ski and snowshoe trail open and lit every night for hikers.
On Saturday, Oct. 18, the park is opening up its bonfire garden space. The cozy picnic area is surrounded by stacks of wood with string lights and towering pine and oak trees overhead.
It drops you right into those Up North vibes while only being 15 minutes from downtown Muskegon.
To gear up for fall, Muskegon Luge is partnering with Grand Haven-based Earth’s Edge to bring product demos of outdoor gear.
The festivities start at 6 p.m. with discounted $10 zipline runs through 8 p.m., which means you can fly down the 1,400 foot dual zipline at sunset and in the dark. The zipline experience ends for the season on Oct. 19.
At 7:30 p.m., Earth’s Edge and Muskegon Luge staff will set off from the lodge and lead a hike to Lost Lake within Muskegon State Park. This 2.5 mile hike will take you to one of the park’s hidden gems so make sure to pack a flashlight and a spirit of adventure.
The event is free and open to outdoor enthusiasts of all ages, including dogs.
Before settling in by the fire you can stop by the lodge to purchase roasting kits with hot dogs, s’mores and hot chocolate for a classic campfire experience.
Season Pass Holders can show their pass for a free hot dog and/or s’mores kit. There will also be a winter and summer season pass sale happening for those who want to become a member.
Muskegon Luge’s Hike the Lights trail will be lit until 10 p.m. Now its fifth season, thousands of hikers have weaved through the woods lit with colorful shadows on the trees on four looping trails.
