I left town for almost two months and my mother in law didn’t kill anything!

Everything was bone dry even the ones labeled ‘standing water’ but everybody looks great. There’s even a new flower spike on one of the oncidiums.

Question: Three of the phals lost the flowers they had when I left. Since I’ve been back (a week) all of the tips of those spikes are swelling up and appear ready to continue flowering. All three, however, also have brand new spikes growing from their base. For one of them this would mean having two mature spikes and two brand new ones at the same time. I’ve never had this happen. Should I cut off the mature ones even though they’re not actually spent?
