I’m biting my fingernails over here in Indiana. 3rd week of overseeding with Blue Resilience and KBG hasn’t come up yet. Looks like we won’t be freezing another couple of weeks but you never know.

Should you cut grass before frost or leave long?

SE MI here too.
I love how we went from a certified drought, 85+ degree days to our first frost in a matter of 2 days.
I tried to over-seed some bare spots but from grub damage – the drought really hindered that. Try again in the spring!

Likely getting first frost tonight. Is it better cut short before the frost or doesn’t matter?

Related question. New grass, about 6weeks old. We’ve do I stop watering. I’m down to 15min once a day

More info: coldest night of the year so far, temperatures are not going to stay this low and looks like lows will be back up in the 50s for at least the next week.
When I saw the low of around 40 for last night, I was surprised to see frost this morning. However, I have learned my lesson and put my susceptible plants in the garage last night. Learned that lesson the hard way!

Shit. I’m in the same area and overseeded a little late but have decent germination already. Should I stop watering now? Is it too late to add a fall/winter fertilizer? We still have a few days of rain and 70s coming

Same here. This fall made it really tough for success. It’s something every year anymore.

Current Soil Temperature : 51°

5 Day Average : 62.8°
I was looking up what to do before popping on Reddit and saw your post. Looks like we don’t go back into the 30s for the rest of the forecast. I seeded almost 3 weeks ago and have pretty good growth. Google said to water deeply the night before a frost. Think this is necessary or that the lawn should be ok? It was more of an over seed with some larger bare spots from leveling/ killing off bent grass.

FL here just hoping for a day that’s sunny under 85°

We got frost here in 4B. Ran the sprinklers that morning to combat it. My overseeded grass looks fine.
